New Mirage Version 3.0

Neuss, 21. July 2014

The new Mirage Version “DREI” from DINAX GmbH marks a milestone in the development of the successful Mirage software.

Next to a lot of new and interesting features, one of the main focus points has been set onto the support for additional printers. From now on, Mirage does not only support Epson printers, but can also be used to drive various Canon iPF printers. A full list of all included printers can be found here.

If you have any question about Mirage or would like to receive a free copy for trial or editorial purposes, please contact us at: mirage@dinax.com, telephone: +49 2131 34 18 0

About Mirage:

Since its market introduction, less than six years ago, Mirage has developed into the bestselling print software solution worldwide, setting new standards in the areas of Photography and Fine Art.
Mirage simplifies complex and complicated technical processes without limiting the user in its individuality. With those key features, Mirage is a guarantee for an efficient work flow and offers the highest quality possible.
Peter Hytrek, the general Manager of DINAX explains: “The idea for a break-through product like Mirage was obvious. We at DINAX have been producing optimised professional level output on digital based inkjet printing systems since 1993.

Until the public presentation of Mirage in 2008, there were basically two ways of printing on these devices; using the printer driver or a raster image processor (RIP). The printer manufacturer usually provides free of charge drivers, if handled correctly they provide suitable results. But printer drivers are too limited in their functionality and complex to operate. So-called user based operational errors are inevitable.

Conventional RIPs are usually expensive to cost-justify on price and performance, so the RIP manufacturers simply added more functions, making the output procedure even more complex.
In addition, the RIP in many cases does not make use of the enormous potential the printer offers in terms of image sharpness and color gamut. Most RIP’s use proprietary raster algorithms and are optimised for the CMYK color gamut. That‘s not very surprising when one considers that RIPs were originally invented to run a digital offset printing press or for the simulation of low gamut print results of an analog offset press (raster simulation/color space).

Mirage offers excellent printing results; it uses the optimal color gamut of the printer and offers high output efficiency. These features, when combined with no-nonsense functionality, offer superior ease of use and excellent value. Faster, easier, less expensive, these simple principles have made Mirage the best-selling print software for Epson printers in recent years.”

Mirage: Print Better Easily

About DINAX GmbH:

DIN A4…DIN A3…DIN A X… since 1993, when DINAX was founded, we put our main focus on the broad field of wide format printing. We are experts for software (Mirage) and turnkey solutions (liverint). As a service provider, our lab also offers scan-, print- and finishing solutions on the highest standard possible. Furthermore, our workshops will teach you how to print correctly with the least mistakes.

The DINAX GmbH, based in Neuss, Germany, was founded in 1993 and specializes in software development for the printing industry. With equal success DINAX operates under the brand name "DINAX Lab" as one of the leading professional labs in Europe for fine art, photography and special applications. Included in the scope of DINAX Lab are services such as the production of high-quality prints, scans (digitization) of originals, digital imaging, and framing services from our own factory.

The computer, as a working instrument, offers a variety of options, compared to the conventional processing in photo labs or print shops. To take advantage of this creative options in a professional sense usually requires a high level of knowledge. Also, this knowledge is not anymore limited to the handling of the computer and the software. With the specialization and diversification, especially in the developing industries, a broader knowledge of the products, their processing, preservation and ultimately their distribution is increasingly mandatory. We have this knowledge and would be happy to provide you with our products and services.

Europe wide collaboration between DINAX and Canon

Print better easily: The new Mirage Software for Canon iPF printer

In a joint collaboration, the DINAX GmbH and Canon Europe have partnered up to introduce dedicated versions of the Mirage professional printing software optimised for Canon’s imagePROGRAF range of large format printers. Designed to handle the printing demands of photographers, designers, agencies and print service providers, as well as offering a fast return on investment, Mirage has established itself as the bestselling print software solution for large format printers over the last six years.

This collaboration between DINAX and Canon sees the introduction of two Mirage Editions for Canon, advanced professional printing solutions offering Canon’s imagePROGRAF customers a quick and simple set up, an intuitive user handling and greater automation, speeding up production efficiencies and eliminating costly production errors.

The Mirage Editions for Canon present all the print output features and tools in one clear, intuitive layout. The software can manage and print an unlimited number of images in a variety of formats at the same time, automatically generating optimum image layouts to maximise cutting and output efficiencies while minimising wastage.

In addition, it supports all colour modes, including mixed configurations such as RGB and CMYK in one document, and generates a precise ‘soft proof’ in the Mirage Preview window¹.

DINAX and Canon have launched two versions of the software for its imagePROGRAF range. The Mirage 8 & 12 Color Edition for Canon is for 8- and 12-colour imagePROGRAF printers and allows operators to simply ‘drag, drop and print’ any PDF, JPEG and TIFF files without the need for any host application. In addition Mirage comes as a plug-in for use with Adobe® Photoshop®, Photoshop® Elements, Illustrator® and InDesign® within the package at no extra cost.

The Mirage Master Edition for Canon extends support to Canon’s whole 5-, 6-, 8- and 12-colour imagePROGRAF ranges.
Both versions support unlimited numbers of printers of varying sizes with just one licence.
Further offerings include the optional Mirage PRO-Extension which can be used with Canon’s iPF6450 and iPF6400S models. The Mirage PRO-Extension makes creating highly professional ICC profiles as simple as a click of a button, utilizing the optional built-in spectrophotometer unit.

Peter Hytrek, General Manager of DINAX GmbH explains, “Our approach to product development is very much in line with that of Canon where the needs of customers are the driving force. With this common approach, and working closely alongside the Canon team, we have developed two dedicated versions of Mirage for Canon that are not only fully optimised to maximise production and cost efficiencies for users of Canon imagePROGRAF large format printers but will also make the use of these printers easier than ever.”
“At Canon we are continually looking for opportunities to provide our customers with significant production benefits and added value, whether through the introduction of our own products or by collaborating with likeminded organisations to provide the very best in supporting software and solutions,” adds Yuichi Miyano, Director of Wide Format Group, Canon Europe. “Through our partnership with DINAX, and the launch of the new Mirage Editions for Canon, imagePROGRAF customers now have access to a customised version of the successful Mirage printing software that is ideal not only for the photographic sector but also for the Print-for-Pay and poster printing markets. With a simple and intuitive user interface, the Mirage Editions for Canon enable customers to optimise their printing environment, shorten workflows with fast and automated image processing and deliver real cost reductions and increased efficiencies.”
The Mirage Editions for Canon are available in English, French, Italian, German and Spanish and are compatible with both Mac (Intel) and Windows operating systems.

The new software is available immediately either directly from DINAX and Canon or through its network of authorised Canon resellers.
